  • Altar Servers
Please remember that YOU are responsible for finding a substitute if you are not going to be present for your assigned Mass on the weekend and holy days.  The parish counts on your being present to assist at the altar and disregard for the schedule disrupts the worship of the entire community.  Last weekend, there were NO SERVERS at neither the 8:00 a.m. nor the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Masses.  It was embarrassing to our parish community with so many visitors for the holidays.  Please pay attention to the schedule that is mailed to you because we are counting on you to be present.
  • Change in Mass Schedule
Because of the very low numbers of people who take advantage of the daily morning Mass on Saturdays and the absence of commissioned lay readers to proclaim the readings of the liturgy, the Saturday morning Mass will be discontinued effective in January 2009.  This decision was reached after consultation with Bishop Steib about the spiritual needs of the parishioners of OLS and the number of liturgies offered on the weekends in the parish.  There will continue to be a Mass celebrated on the First Saturday of each month when the Altar Guild has its monthly meeting.
  • Are You or Do You Know Someone Who Is An Inactive Catholic?
Most of us do not have to look very far to find inactive Catholics in our circle of family and friends, but we may not know how to help them. If you are inactive, you may not know where to begin exploring your relationship with the Church. Many inactive Catholics are simply waiting for some kind of invitation. The parish communities of St. Ann, St. Francis of Assisi, Church of the Nativity and the Diocesan Office of Pastoral Services have joined together to extend an invitation to all inactive Catholics to “Gathering to Remember,” a six-week program to assist inactive Catholics in exploring their relationship with the Catholic Church. This special program will begin on Thursday evening, January 29, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Ann Family Life Center. You can make a tremendous difference in someone’s life simply by reaching out to them and extending an invitation and sharing with them an invitation to “Gathering to Remember.” Please encourage them to visit the St. Ann web site at www.stannbartlett.org and click on the “Gathering To Remember” link on the right side of the home page for more information. For questions and additional information, contact Barbara King at the St. Ann parish office, 266-5201.
  • Respect Life Breakfast

Victor Ciaramitaro, Pastor, St. Michael Church, Memphis and Robert Hutton, Attorney, Glankler Brown PLLC.  Topic: "Life, Faith and the Law: What to do when faith and morals conflict with the law".  The breakfast will begin immediately following the celebration of the 8:15 AM Mass.  Call 901-230-7577 for additional information.

GOD’S PROMISE TO ALL PEOPLE
Today Isaiah reminds the people of God that the land shall be restored to their possession, they shall rejoice to see their people return from the bondage of exile, and that they shall be a light to the nations. In other words, through the people of Israel, the Savior shall come to all people who seek God with a sincere heart. This brings joy and the radiance of God’s glory to all the world and to all people everywhere. Through the fidelity of the people of God, and through God’s fidelity to them, all people shall become God’s children and rejoice in the fulfillment of God’s promise to Israel. © Copyright, J. S.
